A veteran entrepreneur in the high-tech space, Marjorie T. Benbow provides her clients with legal expertise and business sense.  She is of counsel at Moretz & Skufca and focuses on technology transfer, licensing, corporate matters and distillery & brewery law.  Prior to joining Moretz & Skufca, Marjorie Benbow managed the intellectual property at UNC Charlotte when it led the nation in patents issued and successful start-ups formed per research dollar.  Subsequently, she was the Science and Technology Officer for NC’s fourth largest hospital system and the Executive Director for the region’s North Carolina Biotechnology Center.  At the Biotechnology Center, she created “BioMoto” an award winning partnership with the motorsports industry featuring STEM education while tackling childhood obesity.  Ms. Benbow recently taught ‘Biotech and the Law’ at UNC Charlotte’s College of Computing and Informatics Center for Bioinformatics and Genetics and teaches ‘Sports Law’ at Belmont Abbey College.

Marjorie Benbow is licensed to practice law in North Carolina and before the US Patent and Trademark Office.  Inspired by her first husband’s (Colonel Hector Henry, II, MD) military tenure that was ended by a service-connected disability, she became a certified Veteran’s Representative.  Ms. Benbow completed her Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration from Wake Forest in 1999 and her bachelor and master of science from UNC Chapel Hill.
